Mrs. Luxmi Dhoonmoon

Luxmi Completed her BSc (Tissue Viability Pathway) in 2010 and MSc Advanced Practice in 2013, from St Georges University of London. Currently enrolled on PhD in Nursing studies. Luxmi aims to develop her clinical research further to address skin tone and improve lower limb care across all settings.

Luxmi is passionate about wound care and introduced the Stop the Pressure campaign across her previous NHS trust to reduce harm in care homes and reduce the safeguarding concerns regarding PU.  She led a team of Tissue Viability Nurses and Nursing Assistants to deliver a seamless service across the community both for ambulant and housebound patients as well as patients in care homes and mental health settings. She is currently based in the acute hospital settings where the drive to reduce harm from PU, address inequity in wound care for all patients and improve patient’s outcomes from other Tissue Viability related concerns remains her key focus. Currently she is working with other HCPs to address skin tone bias in wound care and reduce inequity in wound care.

She won the JWC award for Best Clinical research in 2015 for making a difference in patients with chronic wound while using topical Oxygen therapy. Ms Luxmi has contributed to several case studies, best practice statements and research to enhance clinical evidence forming the future of practice.

She has published several clinical evaluations on patient’s care and improvement and recently authored an article in Independent Nurse on Long Covid and self-care. She recently co-chaired a best practice document with Wounds UK to reflect assessment of dark skin tone in practice.
